Sector Report Private Equity

We are pleased to present our report on Private Equity’s Footprint in the Netherlands. It provides our insights and analyses on private equity related market trends, M&A transactions over the last 24 months, and developments in acquisition financing in the Netherlands.

In short, the number of M&A transactions, in which Private Equity (hereafter “PE”) was involved, continued to be substantial and the number of PE-owned companies in the Netherlands continued to increase. Interestingly, foreign PE, particularly from neighboring countries and the U.S., was again responsible for a significant percentage of transactions and involved in many of the larger deals. Domestic players have in turn been very active in expanding their portfolio companies through buy-and-build transactions.

Looking at the sectors in which PE has invested in over the last two years, TMT and Business Services led sector activity.

Debt funds have gained ground on traditional banks, due to fast and flexible debt offerings. The rising of leverage ratios and tighter TLB spreads (Termloan B) are pointing to improved conditions for private equity investments.

These trends highlight the ongoing influence of PE in consolidating, strengthening, and internationalizing the market, delivering significant value to investors and the broader economy.
